Farhat Naseem has 17 years’ experience of working in a sports factory in Sialkot and is currently retired since the factory closed down for non-abidance with the contract made with the brands, that required increasing the salary of laborers. She joined WWA in 2018 and was encouraged by other members as she was well-aware of factory workers’ issues and their solutions. She assisted in reaching out to women workers in the factories and helped survey the workplace conditions of the women workers. She was instrumental in identifying the issues of women working in the factories. She states that the major issues of women factory workers are low wages, non-availability of contracts and consequently non-provision of health benefits, social security and retirement plans. She actively highlights these issues at various forums to make the work conditions better for factory workers.
